Eddy C. Agbo, DVM, MS, PhD
Chairman & CEO

Dr. Agbo is responsible for guiding the strategic management and scientific direction of Fyodor. Prior to founding Fyodor, Dr. Agbo held a senior management position as the Senior Director for Research and Preclinical Development at Cangen Biotechnologies, Inc, a cancer diagnostics and therapeutics company based in Baltimore MD, where he functioned as the Chief Technical Lead and directed Cangen’s pivotal bladder and lung cancer diagnostic and therapeutic programs. He directed the preclinical and clinical validation of Cangen’s innovative bladder cancer detection assay and was Technical Lead in negotiations with the US FDA. Prior to joining Cangen, Dr. Agbo was a Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he worked on diagnostic and therapeutic biomarker discovery. Formerly, he held biomedical research and product development industry and university positions at ID-Lelystad, Utrecht University, Wageningen University and Free University Amsterdam, all in the Netherlands (Holland). At ID-Lelystad, he undertook the development and validation of an ELISA-based diagnostic test kit for a protozoan parasite.

Dr. Agbo has over 15 years of biomedical research and direct product development experience in university and industry settings. He is the lead inventor on pending genotyping and diagnostic biomarker patents, and author of numerous scientific publications in peer reviewed journals, including Science, Nature, Transactions of the Biochemical Society UK, Trends in Parasitology, Trends in Microbiology, Parasitology, Experimental Parasitology and Chromosoma.

Dr. Agbo earned his PhD in Molecular Genetics from Utrecht University, MS in Biotechnology from Wageningen University, both in The Netherlands, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Dr. Agbo holds a graduate certificate in Leadership and Management in The Life Sciences from Johns Hopkins University Business School.

 

Camellus O. Ezeugwu, MD, PhD, FACP, FACC
Director

Dr. Ezeugwu serves as Director on the Board of Fyodor Biotechnologies. He is an Interventional Cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, USA. His specialties are in cardiology, internal medicine, critical care and health services. He possesses a unique acumen in clinical and research medicine, leadership and entrepreneurship.  He is the Founder/Director of the Just Heart Cardiovascular Group Inc. in Baltimore Maryland (MD), USA; Director of the National Cardiac Monitoring Center in Glenelg, Maryland; immediate past President of the Enugu State Association in Baltimore, Maryland and the immediate past President of the Medical Staff of Bon Secours Hospital System, Baltimore, MD. 

Dr. Ezeugwu  is the recipient of numerous awards including the “2007 Excellence Award– America’s Top Cardiologists” from Consumers Research Council, Washington DC; America’s Top Physician Award for 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 from Consumers Research Council, Washington DC; 2005 "Man of the year Award" from American Biographical Institute "; 2005 "Great Minds of the 21st. Century" by American Biographical Institute for "accomplishment in cardiology, medicine and Leadership" and in 2006, he was inducted into the “Great Mind Hall of Fame –by the American Biographical Institute for “outstanding accomplishment in Medicine, Critical Care and Cardiology”, to name just a few.

 

Dr. Basil Onugu, MBA, PhD
Director

Dr. Onugu serves as a director on the Board of Fyodor Biotechnologies. Dr. Onugu has extensive experience in banking and financial management, international trade, manpower development and resources and treasury management. He is the Managing Director of Leadership Paradigm Powerhouse Ltd, an organizational development company dedicated to transforming individuals and organizations.

Dr. Onugu has over 22 years experience in the banking and finance industry, rising to the Managing Director/Chief Executive position of a commercial bank in Nigeria in 2000. In this position, he restructured and turned a moribund commercial bank to profitability and over 1.5 billion naira (US $ 37.5 million) capitalization within two years.  He co-authored an acclaimed book – “The Craft of Credit Creation” – widely used in the banking industry. Prior to joining the banking industry in 1984, Dr. Onugu had extensive training in Management Consulting at the Centre for Management Development where he worked as a Trainee Management Consultant for 4 years, under the tutelage of ILO and UNDP experts. Upon retiring from the banking industry, he set up a Management Consulting organization which enables him not only to apply the wealth of experience he has garnered over the years, but also to impart knowledge and skills to current industry practitioners.

Dr. Onugu holds a PhD in Management, an MBA from Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge USA, and a BSc in Mathematics from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He also holds a Diploma in Economics from the Economics Institute, University of Colorado, Denver, USA, a Diploma in Banking & Development Finance from Manchester Business School, UK, a Diploma in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, and a certificate in Leadership from Resource Associates Corporation (RAC), Pennsylvania, USA.
