Diagnostics

Malaria Diagnosis

Malaria continues to claim millions of lives each year, mostly children. All current tests for malaria diagnosis require clean needles to draw the blood and equipment and trained personnel to do the analysis - all in short supply in most malaria-afflicted areas. As a result, current test modalities do not lend themselves to sufficiently widespread use, thus limiting the ability to diagnose and treat malaria. Prompt and accurate diagnosis of malaria is part of effective disease management and helps to reduce the unnecessary use of antimalarials.
